How do I install and configure the Livedrive software?2018-07-18T20:53:06+00:00

Change your password

Your password is initially set as the word ‘password’. Before you do anything else you need to change this to something more secure. Where possible, create a password with at least eight characters. Make it more difficult for someone to guess by adding numbers and capital letters.

To change your password:

1.   Login to your Livedrive portal using the details sent in your welcome email.
2.   Click ‘Account Settings’ in the menu at the top of the Livedrive Dashboard.
3.   Click ‘Your Details’ in the menu at the right of the page.
4.   Type your old password (as shown above) into the ‘Old password’ field.
5.   Type your new password in the ‘New password’ field.
6.   Confirm your new password in the ‘Confirm password’ field.
7.   Click the ‘Update Details’ button.

Wait for your data to be backed up

The amount of data you have will determine exactly how long the initial backup will take. If you have a small amount of data, this could be a matter of minutes or hours. If you have a lot of data, this could take several days to back up. Don’t worry though, you can use your computer as normal. If you need to turn your computer off, the software will continue from where it left off once you turn it back on again. Once the initial backup is complete, further backups will be almost instant.

How do I restore backed up files?2018-06-29T12:07:11+00:00

You can install the Livedrive desktop onto any computer and securely restore at any time. This can be to the same PC or Mac where the backup originated or a different computer. You can restore an individual file or a whole folder structure.

You can also download single files or folders to any computer at any time from your personal web portal.

Is Livedrive Backup really unlimited?2018-06-29T12:06:11+00:00

Livedrive’s desktop software will back up any supported file type from the computer user account where you installed the Livedrive software. It doesn’t matter how large your computer’s hard drive is, or how many files there are.

Livedrive does not back up files from other user accounts on the same computer for privacy reasons. For example, if you own a computer and your friend has a separate login, their files would not be backed up on your Livedrive account by default. Installing Livedrive on a second user account would be treated as a second computer by the Livedrive system.

Which file types will Livedrive back up?2018-06-29T12:05:23+00:00

Livedrive backs up any media files and documents, as well as most application file formats. Livedrive does not back up system files, temporary files, programs or operating systems.

Examples of files backed up by Livedrive include: documents, spreadsheets, database archives, photos, videos, music, PDFs, zip files, presentations, and websites.

Examples of file types not backed up include: browser cookies, .exe, .iso, and .log.
